WHO AM I?
My name is Venkat Akkiraj, and I am running to be the Alberta NDP candidate for the wonderful riding of Calgary-Lougheed!
WHY AM I RUNNING?
I'm striving for a better and prosperous future for us and the next generation. Our current approach has been destroying our economy and jeopardizing our future with outdated and reckless policies that focus on short-term selfish gains over long-term ideas that will improve our province. I want to change that.

I believe that the Alberta NDP is the best party to bring stability and meaningful change to the province, and I am excited to be a passionate advocate for the people of Calgary-Lougheed and am committed to working hard to ensure that the voices of the people of Calgary-Lougheed are heard actively and represented in the Alberta Legislature.
MY PLATFORM
With a long history of political activism and a strong background in political activism, policy studies, legal studies, economics, and information as well as experience as a democratic reform and student political activist, I’ve worked with small businesses, healthcare providers, educators, economists, public service industries, and successful political campaigns. I have a deep understanding of the issues facing Calgary-Lougheed.
I am a passionate advocate for economic development and I'm committed to building a better and stable Alberta for all. I am dedicated to building a more equitable and inclusive society by fighting the current cost of living crisis and creating a more robust economy.
It is time for us to steer our province back on track toward economic prosperity by ending political instability, leading investments back into our province, and protecting our public services.
Being a staunch believer in the power of collaboration and dialogue, I am eager to work with all stakeholders, community leaders, and constituents to ensure the best possible outcomes for the people of Calgary-Lougheed. I will make sure that the people of Calgary-Lougheed have a strong voice in the Alberta Legislature by advocating for local issues that are important to residents.
Alberta is my home and a province with so much potential. I want to help bring positive change to everyone and bring back stability to our province. The wonderful people of Calgary-Lougheed deserve a representative who is in it for them. I am confident that together, we can create a brighter future for Alberta.
